ATHENS – Is there a place better than the place you call home? Absolutely not. And although her strenuous character, Athens is a true gem. With extraordinary history and conspicuous beauty, it’s not hard to fall in love with this bedazzling city. And just like every alluring female, Athens can be hard at times but nothing a glimpse at the dimly lit Parthenon can’t fix.
Living in this city is inspiring, vitalizing and -kind of- addictive. You always come back. Whether you come for holidays, whether you try your luck in another city, Athens draws you back in. Having lived here all my life, with a short 6 month Erasmus hiatus in beautiful Rome, I don’t quite appreciate how lucky I am. The sun, the climate, the sea, the people. Greeks are the definition of hospitable, extrovert and kind. They treat everyone like family and they treat family, well, there’s no comparison here.
Juggling between blogging, personal shopping and tv styling, I am always on the run checking out new showrooms, attending presentations and shooting new stuff in pretty little corners; at the genuinely bewitching stairs in Plaka, next to a bold graffiti wall or in front of a flower covered porch. I discover something new daily and I am happy to finally being able to appreciate all that my city has to offer. Whether it’s hidden little molecular bars, mouthwatering Greek food taverns or museums filled with remarkable treasures. But it’s the everyday things I enjoy the most. The long walks at the center, when it’s quite, the freshly baked fried doughnuts and the serenity of feeling safe in a world that you know and love. The feeling of belonging. To my Athens.
