Miami Raised Me, DC Made Me

DC – Allow me to re-introduce myself, my name is … Hannah. If you don’t get the reference or intro, it’s from Jay Z’s “Public Service Announcement.” I think this serves as a good introduction for myself because already you can get an idea of my tastes and interests.

Let me back up a bit. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and now study at Georgetown University McDonough School of Business in Washington, DC. Fashion has always been a big part of my life and my own personal style has evolved and developed over the years. I think that now I have finally settled into my own unique style, which is a combination of elegant, classy, high fashion, and chic, but I also love street wear and street style, and like to add a bit of an edge to my looks. I just recently started fashion blogging, at the beginning of this year, and love where it has taken me so far. Already it has been such a rewarding experience and I am so happy to be able to share it with all of you! If I am able to bring inspiration to even just one person, then my goal has been accomplished!

I am also a huge traveler and love exposing myself to new cultures and experiences. I myself am very multi-cultural: my background is Korean, Brazilian, and Argentinian, although I identify most with my Brazilian side as all of my family still lives there. Just this year I have already traveled to Lugano, Milan, Rome, Miami, Dominican Republic, and I am writing this column on the plane headed back to Miami for Miami Music Week (I am so excited!) And, just a few weeks from now I will be headed to Coachella, so I hope that you will join me on my adventures and be a part of this amazing journey I am about to undertake, helping to make my dreams become a reality! I feel so grateful to be able to have experiences like these and hope to share them with all of you, if you let me!

Now, a little bit about Miami, or as I like to call it, ‘the best city in the world’… Just kidding! However, I do love Miami and feel lucky for having grown up in such an amazing city! The warm weather, sun, amazing nightlife, parties, and overall creative and relaxed vibes make for a perfect day, everyday! Lately, I mostly frequent the new Wynwood area in Miami, which is like New York’s SoHo, but with a lot more art. I love all of the bars, clubs, art galleries, restaurants, and cafes in the area; it is my favorite place to go! When I was younger I used to go to South Beach more often, but I find the scene a bit too crazy, touristy, and fake now, although there are still a few spots that I really like. I love being in DC too and think that it is a great place for work and studies, but I absolutely hate the cold! I really don’t think I will ever get used to it…

I wanted to use this first column to introduce myself to all of you, so you can get an idea of what I am all about. It is only a short introduction, but if you liked what you heard I hope that you will get on board with my blog and follow me to learn more about me and my style! Also, if you are interested in reading more of my columns, please visit my site to see the weekly Thursday columns that I write, on any topic that interests me that week, from Inspiration of the Week to Playlist of the Week to Artist of the Week.

Thank you guys for taking the time in reading this and I want to thank Blog and The City for featuring me on their site as a guest blogger, I am honored and hope to bring you more little tidbits and features in the future!
